Aleph (Wallace Berman, 1958-1976)

July 13, 2012

It starts and ends with a junkie shooting heroin up his arm. Between that needle and that vein there’s an entire decade. More than ten years of work compressed in eight fast paced minutes. Pop culture, personal footage, esoteric icons intertwined with the Hebrew alphabet, the 60s are portrayed in a way that oscillates between nightmarish and ethereal.

Wallace Berman‘s Aleph is available on UBU.
